Let’s just put it out there. Men in the real world are rarely like the characters played by Ryan Gosling. Few men are incredible romantics and there is nothing wrong with that. It doesn’t mean their love is any stronger or weaker than the next. But, when they’ve finally found love, found the person they want to spend the rest of their life with, a proposal could be fast approaching. Then comes the ultimate question after the ring is purchased: How should I propose?
A lot of my male friends have talked about how they don’t know how to pop the question and they also say that very few internet sites have good, creative ideas on how to propose. How can we expect spectacular proposals if the ideas aren’t out there? We can’t. Most men aren’t creative or intense romantics but still want to make a great proposal. If you’re in love and ready to ask the ultimate question, here are some ideas that could be helpful to you.
Upload your proposal to Youtube and send her the link:
This is great for couples who both enjoy technology, and it could be done in so many ways. Record yourself kneeling on one knee and present the ring to the camera as you would to your girl/guy. It would be super-cute if you sent/show the video to your significant other and when they turn around, you’re actually kneeling with the ring in hand.
Make them Dinner and Spell out “Will you Marry me” in the food:
This could be best done with a desert, but you could be more creative with vegetables, fruit or even meet. The best idea would be to cook your significant other’s favorite meal and spell out the words in the food you prepared for them.
Planning to propose around Halloween?
If you plan to propose sometime around Halloween, you could carve your proposal into a pumpkin, place the candle inside and present it to your hopeful fiancé. Or, choose his/her favorite Halloween Candy and spell out the proposal using the candy.
Spell it out with Scrabble letters:
This one isn’t particularly unique, but if you’re significant other likes word games, especially scrabble, this can be a cute way to propose.
Locket with “Will you Marry me” inside:
I love this idea and think it’s super adorable, and it gives you two pieces of jewelry to remember the day by. Buy a locket necklace and insert the words inside. Give her the necklace and while she opens it, already be kneeling when she reads the words.
Proposal ideas for avid coffee drinkers:
Does your significant other have a coffee every morning? A good way to propose would be to write “Will you marry me” on the bottom of his/her coffee cup or to write it on the outside of their favorite coffee and present it to them when they wake up. Kneeling on the side of their bed would also be a good touch to this one.
Spell out “Will you Marry me” using Christmas lights or Rope lights:
This can be a really cute way to propose and it doesn’t have to be around Christmas time, but it wouldn’t hurt. Using Christmas lights or rope lights, spell out the words on the outside of the house or on the inside and lead her/him to it and pop the question.
Cut a hole in their favorite book and place the ring inside:
This is great for book lovers! Take a book you know that your significant other wants to read and choose and page, somewhere in the middle, and cut a hole large enough to place the ring inside. Just make sure you’ll be there when they get to that special page. You could even purchase a book you know they’ll want to read and give it to them as a gift.
A dozen Roses proposal:
If you know you’re going to propose, start giving her a rose each day, for twelve days. I think it’s a nice touch to use different color roses as they all hold different meanings. Yellow roses represent friendship. White roses represent purity, and red roses represent romance. On the 12th day, they’ll be expecting the last rose to complete the dozen and instead, give them a full dozen roses with the ring attached and pop the question!
Radio Station Proposal:
Call a radio station and request her favorite song and once it plays, ask the radio host to say you’re name and the name of the person you wish to propose to, like “Jerry wants to know if Melissa would marry him”. Just make sure you’re both listening to the radio when it airs. After the radio host speaks, get down on one knee and ask for their hand in marriage.
For those who are artistic:
Take a canvas and paint the words “Will you marry me” on it, wrap it up and present it to your significant other. Be kneeling once he or she sees the words. It will also give them a fun memento of the day they were proposed to.
Do you and your intended love to play trivia games? If so, this proposal idea might just be perfect for you. Play your favorite trivia game and slip in a card that says “Will you marry me” and ask as if you’re still playing the game. When the reality of the question sinks in, kneel and wait for their response.
For the Party couple:
If you and your significant other like to go out to bars often, why not propose at one? Some people may think this is tacky, but, with the right couple, it would be perfect. Take them to your favorite bar and order their favorite drink. Drop the ring inside and when he or she sees it, kneel beside the bar stool and pop the question. There’s no doubt that the two of you will be the stars of the bar with a lot of free drinks in your future.
Picture Perfect proposal:
This is a good idea to do with every proposal, no matter how it’s done. Have somebody around who’s ready to take a picture of the moment you pop the question. This can be a great keepsake to have, to always remember the moment the two of you became engaged.
Slide show proposal:
Create a slideshow of pictures of the two of you paired with your song. On the last slide, write, “Will you marry me?”
