As the chill of winter subsides, thoughts turn to days spent outside, enjoying the warm weather. A great way to get your fill of outdoor time – during the day as well as the night – is to plan a camping trip. While many may think of camping as “roughing it,” the reality need not be so dire. Not only do most parks have electric campsites – which means running water and flush toilets nearby – there are also a lot of great camping accessories available to make your experience easier and more enjoyable. Here are a few to consider as your plan your camping adventure:
Camping Tent Fan
If you are fortunate enough to plan your trip to coincide with perfect spring weather – warm days and cool nights – you are in luck. However as a mom with two kids in school, our camping usually takes place during the heat of summer. Being accustomed to an air conditioned house, camping can be mighty unpleasant as our family of four tosses and turns in the toasty tent. But not to worry – the perfect solution is a camping tent fan. Tent fans run off of batteries and will keep a the air in your tent flowing, as well as provide a gentle breeze to alleviate conditions which otherwise may classify as sweltering!
While many campsites do have showers within their bathroom facilities, a camping shower is great to have for other uses other than merely showering. Basically it contains a receptacle you fill with water, then set in the sunlight. The construction of the receptacle absorbs and retains heat, providing you with a source of hot water at your campsite. It can be used to shower, or for other things like cleaning out containers, rinsing your hands, or giving the dog a quick bath!
An obvious camping accessory to bring along on any trip is a flashlight, which is necessary just for walking around at night. However a cooler light can be just as handy. A cooler light is affixed to the inside lid of your cooler and automatically turns on whenever the lid is opened. No more rooting around in the dark with your arm submerged in icy water trying to find the last Diet Coke!
Whether you are an experienced camper or planning you first trip, camping is a great way to enjoy the beautiful outdoors with friends and family. There are so many options in camping accessories these days that there is no excuse not to be prepared and have a wonderful time. Just think about what you need, do a little research, and your camping trip will be a memorable experience you look forward to repeating year after year.
