Summer is a wonderful time of year for moms not only because there is no school, but because they have plenty of time to spend with their kids doing an array of fun activities in the gorgeous weather. While they are enjoying these precious months, there are many common mistakes moms make that can really rain on the parade of summer fun.
It is important that moms take the proper precautions that are needed before partaking on a summer adventure so the whole family can enjoy the day! After all, there is no bigger disappointment than looking back on what should have been a fantastic day and saying, “Ugh. I wish I would of done this…” To help you make the most of your summer vacation, here are several mistakes that moms make during summer so you can make sure that they don’t happen to you!
Sunscreen mistakes. You may remember to pack along the sunscreen, but the odds are you’ll forget to apply it to sensitive areas of the body. Most people forget to put sunscreen on the hairline, soles of the feet, around the waistline and underneath straps, so be sure that your children get the right amount of coverage because burnt toes and scalps are very painful!
Not drinking enough water. Even though it may feel nice and cool while you are lounging in the pool, you are still under the sun’s powerful rays and you are going to sweat. Make sure that you and the kids drink plenty of water to prevent dehydration.
Forgetting about education. Just because it is summer and there is no school it does not means that kids do not need to be exercising their brains. You don’t have to make them sit down and perform math problems, but you should play education games at least once a week to make sure that they are ready-to-go when back to school season rolls around.
An empty pantry. Since kids are going to be home most of the time, food is going to get gobbled down much quicker. With a busy summer schedule the last thing that you want is hungry kids begging for snacks so take advantage of summer sales and so your pantry is always stocked with delicious goodies for your kids and all their friends.
Not taking enough time for yourself. Moms deserve just as much of a vacation as their kids do during summer. Moms work their butts’ off during summer, packing lunches, chaperoning and getting everything done for their kids. All moms should take a weekend off during the summer to relax, rejuvenate and take a break from routine to focus on themselves.
Forgetting about bugs. Another summer mistake that moms make is forgetting about bugs. You may apply sunblock, but don’t forget about the mosquito repellent! If not, you’ll wind up with a bunch of itchy and complaining kids. Purchase some store-bought repellent, citronella candles or toss a dryer sheet into your pocket, it works just as well.
By avoiding these mistakes, your summer vacation is guaranteed to be a blast! What tips do you have for making the summer season easier and more exciting?
