Colorado in the summer is absolutely beautiful. Bright blue skies and summer sunshine give us the ability to create a staycation in our own state. You don’t have to go far to enjoy a long weekend off on the Front Range. Here are three destinations to try this summer.
There is so much to do right in the heart of the Mile High City. Not every downtown hotel has a pool, but find one that does to take advantage of a hot summer afternoon. The Four Seasons, the Warwick and the Sheraton are three that do offer that amenity. Then, pick your activity! A Rockies game, a craft brewery tour or even a trip to the art museum are all within walking distance of the 16th Street Mall. Take a cab to the RiNo neighborhood (just past downtown) for dinner at a trendy new spot.
Loveland is a gorgeous small city just an hour north of Denver. Stay at the new-ish Embassy Suites, right off the highway, for amenities like free breakfast and a pool for the kids. Make sure you venture into quaint downtown Loveland for vintage shopping and adorable bistros. Take a picnic to North Lake Park or Boyd Lake for an unbeatable view of the mountains. Finish up your stay with a trip to the outlet mall.
This mountain resort is not just for winter! Keystone offers summer fun, too. Stay right in the village by booking through AirBNB or VRBO. Make sure you’re there on a Friday in mid-summer; you can take the free gondola up to the top of the mountain for Friday Afternoon Club. Up there, you can enjoy drinks with a stellar view, play cornhole and other lawn games, and even take a short hike before you ride the gondola down to the village. Enjoy a dinner in town and soak in the outdoor hot tubs with a glass of wine in hand!
