You do not need to pay an entry fee to Old World to eat at the Clausing Barn Cafe since it is outside the gate of the museum. As you drive up the road to the museum you will see the Clausing Barn Cafe to the left and the rest of Old World Wisconsin on the right.
Clausing Barn Cafe is a casual come as you are restaurant where you can get farmer cookies. These huge cookies are enough for a family of four to enjoy. They are big as a waffle and tasty. They come in a variety of flavors including chocolate chip.
You can also get many different sandwiches at the cafe and hamburgers.
Clausing Barn was an actual barn that was brought into the site of Old World Wisconsin just like the other building that you find here. It was built by the Clausing family and was used to house animals.
When you come to Clausing Barn you have the choice to eat inside the basement of the barn or outside on the patio. On a nice day the patio is splendid as you can watch the wildlife of the area. On days when the weather is too hot or cold you can find comfort in the barn basement where they have it fixed up clean and comfortable for you to come and enjoy dinner.
The top of Clausing Barn can be rented out for a private party like a wedding or a birthday. Over 30 years ago we enjoyed our wedding reception in the Clausing Barn complete with line dancing and costumed guests. It was a night to remember for us and our company. It as an honored event that was old fashioned and fun.
The area around Clausing barn is planted with flowers and shrubs. These gardens are well kept and very interesting as you walk around the barn.
If you are visiting Old World Wisconsin then the Clausing Barn is part of the adventure. You don’t have to eat to enjoy the barn but if you are hungry it is a great place to eat in the museum.
