Easter is a great time for my family and me to gather around the dinning table and share our love for one another. We each contribute a plate of our favorite dish. I bring the desert, and it’s always banana pudding.
Making desert has always been a favorite of mine, so when my aunt first introduced me to banana pudding, I knew I had to learn how to make it. The ingredients are delicious alone, but amazing when placed together! Below are the ingredients and step-by-step instructions.
What you’ll need:
2 boxes of Jello vanilla pudding mix
4 ripe bananas
1 box of Nilla Wafers
1 Pryex glass container
1 cutting board
1 can of whipped cream
1 jar of cherries
What to do:
Follow the instructions behind the Jello vanilla pudding mix box. Most of these vanilla pudding mixes do not require much, simply add milk to the powder and stir. Place a layer of the Jello vanilla pudding mix to the bottom of the Pyrex glass container. This will keep the Nilla Wafers from moving while you layer the ingredients.
Now we begin layering!
Place a layer of Nilla Wafers on top of the pudding, making sure they each touch the pudding and the oval part is facing up. Peel the ripe bananas and place them on the cutting board to prepare them for layering and use the knife to slice them into circles. I usually eat the ends, makes it easier for layering. Add a slide of banana on top of each Nill Wafer and layer the Jello vanilla pudding mix on top. Repeat the layering process again.
Once you’ve reached the top of the Pyrex glass container add the Nilla Wafers as a top layer. Use the can of whipped cream to decorate. You may do so by doing circular motions throughout the top of the layer, starting with each corner. Then add cherries wherever you please. Place your masterpiece in the fridge and it’s ready to serve in 10-15 minutes.
My brothers love this dish, it’s what they look for each year. I’ve even introduced it to my husband who isn’t a fan of sweets, and he loves it!
While you wait for your dish to cool off, feel free to indulge in whatever is left over from the Jello vanilla pudding mix. It’s your treat for being awesome!
