COMMENTARY | That CBS News has a liberal bias should come as no surprise to anyone. That one of its star reporters, Sharyl Attkisson, has been obliged to resign from that organization due to that liberal bias should raise a few eyebrows.
Attkisson is one of the few reporters left in the mainstream media who has won respect for being willing to follow Obama scandals such as fast and furious and Benghazi. This has apparently caused quite a bit of heartburn, not only with the suits who run CBS News, but with her fellow reporters who look askance at her for not following the party line.
Attkisson is currently working on a book, to be entitled “Stonewalled: One Reporter’s Fight for Truth in Obama’s Washington.” It will no doubt be revealing and will cause a great deal more heartburn among the mainstream media, which increasingly has been shedding credibility. The book is going to be an instant best seller and will make Attkisson a celebrity.
What comes next? Fox News is an obvious choice, though Hot Air also suggests that CNN may be a good fit as well is that network is serious about going back to hard news reporting and analysis. Someone as dogged and as skilled as Attkisson needs the resources of a major network to back her up in her investigative journalism.
In the meantime, CBS News has taken yet another black eye, the worst it has gotten since Dan Rather was obliged to resign over the faked National Guard documents. That network has demonstrated that political correctness is more important to it than actual shoe leather journalism. It has lost a great asset, even though the people in charge are likely breathing a sigh of relief that they are rid of a most inconvenient woman. CBS really should have transferred her to “60 Minutes” where her talents would have shined. It is the network’s loss and whomever decided to hire Attkisson’s gain.
