Camping is a wonderful way to spend time with your family, get closer to nature, and to unwind from the hectic work week. When choosing a camping spot you should consider location, privacy, and amenities. Lake Lincoln State Park in Wesson, Mississippi is a great place to camp and unwind from life.
Lake Lincoln State Park is located in beautiful Wesson, Mississippi in Lincoln County. The park is very near Interstate 55, Highway 51, and Highway 27. The small town of Wesson has a few stores and gas stations that you can get to in case your forgot something you needed for your camping trip. The park has paved roads throughout making it a great place to ride bikes. Trees are mature and provide lots of shade for the camping spots.
Lake Lincoln State Park has 71 developed sites that are perfect for any camping enthusiast. Some of the sites are lake side while others are tucked in the woods. Sites 1-19 do not have sewage access, but these were some of my favorite spots because they are more secluded and offer more privacy than the other sites. The top sites for privacy in this section would have to be sites 5, 10, and 19. The loop that includes sites 15-19 would be perfect if you have a group of friends that go camping with you. There is also a little hiking trail that you can get to the lake on near these sites. Sites 20-49 have septic access and some are in close proximity to the lake. You could also easily walk to the beach access and playground from this section of the campground. There is a bathhouse that is located near site 25, but it is very outdated and could really use some upkeep. Sites 50-71 are lake front and are great if you have a boat and plan on doing a fair amount of fishing. There isn’t much privacy for these sites, but there is great view of the lake. These sites have septic access. There is another bathhouse that is located near these sites, but it is also very outdated and could use some upkeep. There is also a primitive camping area that is located near the beach and playground area. There are also 3 cottages that are set off in a different area and looked to be pretty nice. One group cabin is available as well.
Lake Lincoln State Park has a boat ramp, playground area, beach area, fishing piers, and nature trails available for use. The playground area could use some updating, but my kids didn’t mind. There are a few fishing piers available for use and there is a peninsula that has picnic tables spread around that are really nice. We did not go on any of the nature trails during our weekend visit. There is also a disc golf course available for use.
Overall, we really enjoyed our weekend at Lake Lincoln State Park. It is a beautiful park and has a little of something for everyone. Don’t let the outdated amenities scare you away from this park because the privacy of some of the camping spots and the beauty of the location definitely make up for it!
