Christianity is a lifetime affair. You never really stop learning or growing – unless you get stagnate. For this reason, there are a few things (in my opinion) EVERY Christian should do before kicking the bucket. They not only build character, but making existing on earth worthwhile before you eventually ascend into heaven.
#1 – Read ALL of the Bible at least once.
Get an overview of what this anthology is really about and decrease your chances of misquoting a bunch of scriptures. Also, you might just change your mind about the merit of more modern translations of the Bible after wading through a few chapters of the King James version.
#2 – Make a HUGE, Unforgettable Mistake.
You know – the kind that is undeniable by everyone – including yourself. Understand how judgement from others truly feels and what sincere repentance means. Afterward, your ability and desire to forgive others goes up exponentially.
#3 – FAST and PRAY about one problem.
Strengthen your connection with The Almighty. You’ll see – as I have – that you get a clearer answer to whatever challenge you face. In addition, your level of focus and peace (spiritually) heighten as a result.
#4 – Give away something you REALLY love.
Realize that you can survive quite well without that designer handbag or tech gadget. See first hand how it IS better to give than receive. In addition, don’t expect anything back from the person or the Lord as a result of your sacrifice.
#5 – Hang around a HOLY man or woman.
Discover the dichotomy of humanity – how one person can be both strong and weak. Pastors and priests do wonderful work and often help mankind. Yet, they also have frailties like the rest of us. Dethroning them aids in seeing these individuals as well as yourself in a more balanced manner.
