What is Borderlands 2?
Borderlands 2 is an FPS that involves you exploring the land of vast, dangerous, land of Pandora. You create your own class, either Gunzerker, Zer0, Commando, Siren, or Mechromancer. Each class has specific abilities and powers. For example: Zer0 has the special ability to turn invisible for a certain amount of time, and you can do much more damage to enemies when invisible. Every class has one specific special ability, and with that, they also have many skills and perks to unlock and upgrade. Using your class, you can play single-player, or play online and begin your adventure. You can easily invest many hours into this game, considering there are many missions and side missions for you to do. It has a great story-line and of course a villain, “Handsome Jack,” one of the best villains I’ve seen in a while.
My Experience With Borderlands 2
I received borderlands 2 as a gift from a friend a few months ago. I had heard some good reviews on this game and was excited to play it. When I first got into the game, I created my character and used the class, Zer0. Zer0 seemed like a very interesting character, so I no doubt chose him. After getting through the first cut scene, I was woken up in an ice tundra by a robot who called himself “Clap Trap.” He was pretty annoying, and asked me to follow him. I don’t remember much after that, but I remember receiving a gun from him, and then he sent me on my first mission. Again, I don’t remember what the particular mission was, but I do remember having to fight off terrible monsters called Bullymongs. There were so many of them, and I had a very weak first gun. The game got interesting fast. Using my bad gun, I managed to kill most of the Bullymongs, but I quickly realized I didn’t stand a chance when an Adult Bullymong showed up.
This gigantic freak of nature proceeded to throw giant snowballs at me. Heck, it threw anything it could pick up at me. I made a run for it with the Adult Bullymong still chasing after me, throwing things at me. After a few minutes of this chasing game, the Adult Bullymong finally managed to hit me with something, causing me to die. It was my first death and an unexpected one at that. This game had a neat respawning system that allowed me to come back to life. I didn’t want to make the same mistake I did the first time, and get into a ruckus with the Bullymongs again. I walked to my objective, seeing the Bullymongs in sight. I proceeded to sneak past them and continue on my journey. They’ll hear back from me soon, when I’m a higher level of course.
Anyway, I managed to complete whatever mission Clap Trap had in store for me, and I proceeded with the game. Fast forward a bit, I get to my first boss fight, Captain Flint. At this point I had a decent gun and that invisibility power unlocked that I was talking about earlier. The Captain was quite a tough boss, but was quite a lot of fun. Even after burning many times during the fight, I enjoyed it, a lot. This was a very decent game.
Is it worth it?
That totally depends on if you like first person shooters like this. Personally, I love the game. There’s so much to do and explore. The developers put a heck of a lot of detail into this game. There are so many Easter eggs to find, including a Minecraft Steve head I found at some point in the game. So if you like a game that’s filled with action and adventure, this is definitely the game for you.
