Books! Books! Books! I am addicted to books. Some may even dare to call me a hoarder in that area. So you can visualize my excitement when I discovered a blogging for books program on the internet, which allows you to order books, blog on them and then keep it for free!
Most of the books I have been interested in over the years have been nonfiction. I want information. Anything else seemed like a waste of time. Reviewing my list of options through the blogging program at one point, however, brought me to a crossroads. Most of the books available to me I had already read, leaving really only one choice; a Christian fiction novel by a brand new author, Meg Moseley. I begrudgingly ordered it and am happy to report that it opened up a whole new world for me.
It was rather ironic that Meg’s first book, When Sparrows Fall, involved a topic close to my heart. I homeschool my two youngest boys and have, of course, had to deal with opposition to that choice. This book was geared around a homeschooling mother of six children who lost her husband and had to call on a brother-in-law, whom she had only met once. This man just happened to be a college professor. You can imagine the conflict that caused.
Meg has a wonderful way of drawing you into her characters and making them seem so real that when you are done reading, you are actually waiting to hear from them to update you on their situation. I never knew I could get lost in a book like that.
Months later, I ran into a similar struggle in ordering a book and quickly chose another fiction book based on the title, Gone South. When I received it and started reading it, the “voice” sounded very familiar. I was thrilled to see that the author was again Meg Moseley! This book was just as well written and I was not disappointed in any aspect. This author has now finished her third book, A Stillness of Chimes. I have one warning and I hope you are more disciplined that I am: Meg’s writings keep you in such anticipation that you will want to cheat and skip ahead to put your mind at ease about the happenings in the current chapter. Resist the urge! Don’t miss this great author!
