AOC was one of the city’s first wine bars. It is now mostly a wine bar in name only, having since relocated, expanded and added a bigger menu, with lots of small plates or platters to share. It’s a pretty spot, with indoor table or bar stool/long table seating, as well as a lovely patio with fireplace. There are wines by the glass, tap and bottle, as well as an original selection of handcrafted cocktails.
Barsha Wines & Spirits
917 N. Sepulveda Blvd.
Manhattan Beach, CA 90266
Husband and wife team Adnen and Lenora Marouani, a former wine sommelier and chef, respectively, opened this cozy spot a few years ago and it’s since taken off with the South Bay crowd. Half wine store/half lounge with a tiny bar and long tables, host Adnen and his staff love to talk about the wines from small producers and let you sample. Enjoy a flight of four wines for $12. There are also beers on tap. If Lenora’s tapas, cheeses and salads aren’t enough for you, head next door to Mexican favorite El Gringo to scarf down a cheap burrito.
