If you’re lucky enough to live near a Trader Joe’s market, you should already know the perks of such a grocery store. They feel friendly enough to be small town family-owned markets, but their variety of fresh foods combined with their own unique gourmet-tasting products put them in a class all their own. Here are my best Trader Joe’s finds for single folks living alone or entertaining on a smaller scale.
Brie Bites and Goat Cheese Bites
You’ll find these gems right in the cheese case. For about $4, you’ll get six individually wrapped bites of either brie or goat cheese. They are perfect for on-the-go snacking and picnics. They are about one-ounce portion servings, so you shouldn’t feel super guilty about them either. I love having an apple with a mini brie wheel or mixing a goat cheese gem into mashed potatoes for extra creaminess.
Individual Pretzel Rolls
If you’re like me, buying a loaf of bread can mean two things; an over serving of carbs for the day or wasted, moldy bread by the week’s end. Trader Joe’s sells fresh-baked individual pretzel rolls perfect for one. They are awesome toasted with a little cheese on top and make a great base for sandwiches and hotdogs.
Frozen French Onion Soup
This soup is truly amazing! The package comes with two frozen servings of French onion soup and they taste fresh and homemade without all the fuss. It takes about 40-45 minutes in the oven in an oven-safe bowl. Makes for an easy lunch or dinner.
Tomato & Roasted Red Pepper Soup
This is another fresh-tasting soup that won’t break your wallet or disappoint your tastebuds. It’s super convenient for one or two people because the box has a twist on-off cap. Have it for lunch over the course of a few days with grilled cheese or crackers on the side.
Omega Trek Mix Packets
These are perfect, single-serve nut mix packs for on-the-go snacking and portion control. They’re ideal for quick breakfasts and hikes with friends. If you’ve got a family, your kids will also love these fun single packs of nuts, dried cranberries and yogurt chips.
