Baseball season is here, and downtown Denver has plenty of fun pregaming bars and restaurants to hit before you head into Coors Field for a Rockies game. Whether it’s a Tuesday evening with friends or a Saturday early afternoon with family, here are some of the best picks for a Rockies game pregame.
Marco’s Coal-Fired Pizza
This gourmet pizzeria is a must-try if you’ve never been in. They have incredible coal-fired pies with delicious cured meats, cheeses and fresh vegetables. Their salads and small plates are also worth ordering. Try their lemoncello chicken wings–crispy and flavorful. They have a full bar and happy hour food and drink specials.
A local favorite, Illegal Pete’s has multiple locations, but I love to visit the downtown location before Rockies’ games. You can grab a pitcher of beer and some chips and salsa and then order burritos to-go to bring into the game. Yes, it’s one of the best things about Coors Field, you can bring in your own snacks! Illegal Pete’s always features drink specials on game day.
Just steps from Coors Field, this is the perfect sports bar to grab a beer at before a game. They have a large rooftop area and feature plenty of drink specials on game day and during happy hour. They have a full kitchen to satisfy your bar food cravings. They have typical bar snacks, but also juicy burgers, flavorful sandwiches and hot wings!
Biker Jim’s Gourmet Hotdogs
You’re in for a treat here if you love hotdogs and baseball. Stop by before or after the game–it’s just a couple blocks east of the ballpark–and order a couple dogs to share. They feature unusual meats such as elk, reindeer, rattlesnake, veal and duck. Their fried mac and cheese side is worth the calories!
Just a block from the ballpark, this is a classic Denver stop for a pregame drink. Grab a basket of popcorn to share with your group. They feature cheap beer specials for happy hour and have daily food specials as well.
