Having started smoking cigarettes at the age of 17, there came a time when I realized what had to be done… quitting smoking. It wasn’t easy, but for the sake of health and mental problems giving it up was a given. In the short month’s time that I’ve quit, there have been many noticeable benefits that I want to share. Hopefully some of these can inspire others to quit and join other former smokers in living longer and healthier!
Without smoke to stain them instantly, even after a whitening treatment, there is a better chance for them to get healthy again. Smiling is not as embarrassing and purchasing whitening products hasn’t been as expensive. Once a person quits, they are one step closer to that celebrity- white pearly smile!
The smell of cigarettes clings to fabric and hair like no other. It’s nice to be able to walk into a store without everyone smelling me before they see me.
Breathing Is Easier
Activities such as running and playing around with little ones has been a lot easier now that I don’t have to stop to take a breath. After quitting smoking, the lungs are instantly thankful. The longer a person goes without lighting one up, the healthier the lungs get and the faster they recover.
Healthier Hair and Skin
My hair and skin have more life than they have in years. Smoking can strip your body of it’s natural beneficial oils, drying everything out. When a person quits smoking, these natural oils are replenished and help hair grow and fight wrinkles. For the sake of not wanting wrinkles, the faster you quit smoking, the better!
More Spending Money
This one is a given, but deserves to be said. The money used to buy cigarettes can now be set aside, put into a savings account, used for gases, vacations, groceries, clothing… the possibilities are endless. Try not to dwell on how much has been spent in the past on tobacco products, but instead think of all the money you are saving NOW and think of it as an extra income. A fatter wallet is indeed a very good side effect of dropping your old bad habit!
