Godfather: The Five Families is an online browser game where you join other gamers and strive to be the most powerful crime family while building, researching, training, attacking, and doing various other activities. I have a lot of experience in this game, and I would just like to lend my advice and opinions. These articles are meant for first-time players to help you get off to a good start. Each article will focus on a certain set of gaming functions.
1. Choosing a Family:
There are five to choose from: Cuneos, Corleones, Barzinis, Tattaglias, and Straccis. All families have powerful people and low-level ones, and everything in between. Power fluctuates. Your main focus is just getting into a family where you can get help and support, which are very crucial in this game. Loners do not last long on Godfather. Hence, this second part.
2. Joining a Crew:
A crew is a small unit within a family. Crews can really help you in numerous ways, especially if you join a powerful one. And there are many players on the game that will help you along, regardless of level. Crews cannot only give advice, but can “hit” someone that has attacked you, help you get resources (which are highly important in this game), and even help you place in tournaments where you can win diamonds–the in-game currency–and other useful items.
3. Getting Your Neighborhoods:
When you first begin the game, you only have what’s called First Neighborhood. The hoods are Greenwich, Brooklyn, Park Avenue, Atlantic City, Chinatown, Doria Airport, and Harlem. Each has its own special buildings, slot machines where you can win prizes, and trainable troops.
A log-in game on there is called Daily Token. Collect these tokens to purchase deeds. My advice would be to get Doria Airport first, which will unlock an extremely powerful gangster called Il Cugino. After that, when you either purchase diamonds or win them in tournaments, I suggest getting the First Neighborhood Expansions. Then follow that up with the rest of the expansions.
Each hood has an Estate. Within the Estates are the vital buildings that need to be upgraded. Mansions are the most important. These open up more lots in your hood for constructing the resource-generating buildings: Hideouts (money and troops), Apartment Buildings (money), Steel Mills, Cement Factories, and Restaurants. For each upgrade you will also open more slots for capturing Cityscapes. These boost your resources and give you respect. The higher the Cityscape, the better.
In the next article, I will be going more in-depth with the hoods’ buildings, especially the Estate.
So, Gangsters, go to www.kabam.com, and start getting criminal!
