I have traveled and lived all over the eastern parts of the United States and I have to say Knoxville, Tennessee is my favorite. I love the scenery filled with flowers, trees, hills and everywhere you look you can see the beautiful mountains. During the springtime it is amazing to watch life blossom and fall is an explosion of color as you look from tree to tree. It is absolutely awesome!
Knoxville is loaded with restaurants, shops and parks to visit. In the heart of downtown is the Market Square which holds movie night, plays, festivals and the First Friday celebrations. I love to join in on the drumming with the Djembe players in Krutch Park just off of the Square. We always have a great time and quite often go early so we can wander thru the park, to the Square and visit the local shops. They have some very unique gift shops.
Another amazing site is at the Worlds Fair Park. My grandchildren love playing in the fountains for hours, walking along the waters, going up in the Sunsphere to overlook the city or visiting the Amphitheater for one of their superb concerts.
If you are more into the country sites then it’s lucky we are nestled near the base of the Smoky Mountains, which are absolutely breathtaking. Any kind of outdoor activity you would want to do is offered such as hiking, camping, fishing, tours, bicycling, horseback riding and much more. I like to take a drive around Cades Cove and look at the old mill or see all the animals which roam around. Just check it out and find what sparks your fancy.
No matter if you are looking for nature scenes, taking the riverboat tours, visiting the Historical Center, the Botanical Gardens, Ijams Nature Center or just looking for a place to soak up culture and art, it is a beautiful city full of wonder. Don’t forget to check out the local Festivals, Farmers Markets and the Haunted Knoxville tours. I have lived here, off and on, for years and still have not seen it all. I have listed a few places but check us out because there is much more to do and see. I have moved several time but I always come back here so I think it’s time for me to just stay put and see what else I can find to do.
