A majority of the African American male population have something unfortunate in common. Unlike men of other races, black males cannot shave every day . Many often grow beards because when they do shave, the curly nature of their facial hair causes it to grow back into the skin, causing pain and irritation.
These uncomfortable ingrown hairs cause what are known as razor bumps, on the face, and neck. Sometimes after getting a hair cut at the barber, men in my family have bumps on the back of the neck and sometimes on their scalp. Razor bumps often cause redness, swelling and pain so bad that some men seek medical attention. One man went to the hospital because even his lips were swollen.
I remember a young man who was 3 or 4 years older than me when we were growing up.He was light, about my complexion. From about age 15 until he graduate high school and moved out of town, his face and chin had really ugly red bumps.
He had side burns, and was trying to grow a beard,, but it never fully developed. You could see those bumps through the wisps of light brown facial hair.I thought he had a bad case of acne. I know realize he was dealing with razor bumps at an early age.
Each time I see I a man whose face is sporting these ugly bumps on their face, chin and necks, I pray for a miracle solution. This is because I have watched my husband, oldest son and brother spend money trying various commercial products, and using tweezers to rid themselves of the ingrown hairs, all to know avail..
My prayers may have been answered, as there now may be help available, that costs only pennies.
According to research from the Bonn University in German, the wonder drug aspirin has yet another benefit. The studies indicate that some commercial products sold to help decrease pain from and appearance of razor bumps, have an ingredient called acetylsalicyic acid, which is nothing more than aspirin.
You can utilize aspirin for razor bumps in the comfort of your own home. First crush one or two un-coated regular 325 mil aspirin.in 1/4 cup of water. Add a few drops of glycerin, which is a thickening agent. The solution should be able to stick to your face, without running off. I am going to suggest this to the men in my family and pray it works, not just for the, but everyone who needs it.
