I have four children and one of my biggest goals has always being to be able to provide them the best education possible. The problem is that in the area that we live, the schools are not good enough for them, and they are also overpopulated. I tried getting them enrolled in a Magnet School, but they were not selected for it. Long story, short, I had no other choice than to enrolled them in a public school. My kids are very miserable right now but, unfortunately, there is nothing I can do to make the situation better for them. All I want is for the opportunity to provide them a good education. Is that a lot to ask for? At this point, I am even considering moving to a different school district so they can have the opportunity to get a better education. Do you think I am making the right decision?
You are the only person who knows what is better for your kids. If the schools around your area are not up to your standards, you have the right to try to find one that it is. Try again to see if the magnet school will accept them and if they do not, then start looking for schools in other districts and see if you can get them to approve a transfer for your kids. As a mother of three kids myself, I completely understand where you are coming from. Giving kids the chance to a better education should be your number one mission as a mother. If after trying to get other schools to accept your kids you are not lucky, then you have to do what you think is best, and if moving to a different area with better schools is the best option, then I guess that will be the best thing to do. But, before you make such a drastic decision, try to use all the options you have available in your current area and see if one of them happens to come through. If that does not happen, then make the decision of moving and go for it.
