I am not sure if I have a real medical problem or just a mental one, but I need help. I can’t sleep at night. It doesn’t matter what I do, or what I don’t do but I never get to sleep more than 3-4 hours at night. I am constantly getting awake by little things like sounds, weird thoughts, and even inexplicable smells. I went to the doctor and he prescribed me some sleeping pills but I don’t like taking that kind of stuff because, I am afraid I will become addicted. This issue is becoming very serious to the point that in many occasions, I have had to move to our guest bedroom so that my husband could have a good night sleep. I hate doctors because all they do is give people medicines, so going to the doctor is out of the question. What do you suggest I do that doesn’t include doctors nor medicines?
I know you don’t want to go and see a doctor but I honestly believe that you should give that option another try. Your situation sounds very complicated and you may need to try something else other than just sleeping pills. What I would suggest you to do is to try to go to a different doctor to see if you can get a second opinion about your situation. The new doctor may help you find ways to deal with the problem without you having to take medicines. Just explain him/her what the issue is and also explain him/her that you would like to try to deal with the problem without medicines. I am pretty sure that once you explain the doctor everything in details, he will do his best to try to find the best way for you to deal with the situation. If you definitely don’t want to go and see a doctor, there are plenty of other things that you can try like relaxation techniques before bedtime, massages, etc. that may help you have a good night sleep. Do some research about natural ways of dealing with insomnia and see if one of those remedies help you feel better. If after trying them, you still have the same issues, then I guess your only option would be to go and see the doctor again.
