If you’re contemplating entering into article marketing and advertising for your website, understanding how it all works will help you get going in the right direction. As basic as writing sounds, don’t allow that thinking to detract from the seriousness of this business and how important it is to the very life a business.
Take it seriously
Besides making a profit, business exists to fill a need. If they can fill that need they will survive. On the other hand, if they fail at this, they fail, too. That’s why businesses need to continually improve and strive to be the best at what they do. The same is true for article writers, or anyone writing to persuade, inform or entertain. I can’t think of any business that doesn’t live or die by the written word. Not a restaurant, a bank, a roadside stand, or any other business. This is why article writing is so very important and it must be done right. That is, with your reader in mind at all times.
Keep it brief and to the point
No one wants to read an article that rambles on for hundreds of words and doesn’t answer their question or satisfy the reason they’re reading your article in the first place. So, always try to keep the information you provide brief, with well-chosen words that get to the point. Trust me, your readers will appreciate it and likely will look forward to reading your work again.
There’s nothing wrong with being descriptive and having a little fun with your topic. This adds to reading enjoyment and keeps your reader glued to your writing. Remember, don’t ramble!
Readers today are skimmers. Yes, I said it. But, it’s true. With so much information available, it makes sense that your reader will quickly skim your article for headings that pertain to their interests. If it’s there, they will stop for a quick read. That’s a great hook to keep your readers on our page. Make the effort to write catchy and compelling subheads. These help break up the page so your article has plenty of white space and doesn’t appear like a page full of text. That’s an immediate turn-off for readers.
Always include a link back to your site
After you’ve written your masterpiece, don’t forget to include an easy way for your reader to find more information or make a purchase. There’s nothing more frustrating than trying to find out more info about you or your product and your article simply ends with no way to find it. Your article peaked their interest, now provide that link so they can easily move closer to a purchase or to your website!
