The CM Punk 434 days with the WWE Championship were a historic feat of gigantic proportions. He broke John Cena record of most days with the WWE Championship. He was with the title since November 20, 2011 to January 27, 2013. In this article I will analyze the great championship reign of the best in the world, CM Punk.
CM Punk defeated Alberto Del Rio on November 20, 2011 in Survivor Series to win the WWE Championship. After that he defended the championship 26 times. Of that 26 times, 17 times were via pinfall and one time via submission. The other decisions were: seven via disqualification and two via count-out. When he was babyface, he defended the title 19 times. When he was heel he defended the title 7 times. He always defended the title with honor and with pinfalls. He only had one defense of the title via disqualification when he was a heel, so that proves that he was the best of the world as a babyface and as a heel. He defended the title against 13 different wrestlers and nobody was able to defeat him until The Rock did in Royal Rumble 2013. If you analyze very well that numbers you will see that he defended the title against 13 different wrestlers including former WWE champions like John Cena, Chris Jericho, The Miz and The Big Show. Another interesting fact is that he was excellent on the microphone and his manager Paul Heyman too. It was a great alliance and a very entertaining one. CM Punk is the only wrestler that had defeated John Cena cleanly several times. He also wrestled in a lot of triple threats and multiple men matches demonstrating that he was the man and nobody can defeat him. The only one that defeats CM Punk was The Rock and most of the WWE Universe disagreed with the decision. When you have almost the entire WWE Universe cheering for you even if you are a heel then you are doing your job very well.
In conclusion, everybody can win a title. The important things are to defend the title with honor, grace and win the WWE Universe. CM Punk is the perfect example of how to do all these things. After all, he is the best in the world by his standards.
