For some reason, I am prone to pinkeye. The condition, officially known as Conjunctivitis, always seems to find its way to me. In the past two years, I’ve had seven cases of the infection. I have done a lot of research on the issue and have also found a fast and effective way to cure it.
Waking up with a swollen eye with gross discharge often means you’ve somehow contracted pinkeye. The most common causes of the infection are bacteria, viruses and dry eyes. In most cases the infection can last for five to seven days but is known to last up to three weeks.
I originally thought my contact lenses may be causing the infections. Having woken up with an infection just days ago, I know that this is not the cause. I have not worn a pair of contact lenses in over a month. It would appear that my bad habit of rubbing my eyes when they are dry is causing the issue. Hands are dirty. Despite how often you wash them, bacteria can always be present on your hands.
As a means to stop rubbing my eyes so much, I’ve purchased some higher quality re-wetting drops for my contact lenses. This allows me to cure my dry eyes without the harmful habit of rubbing them with my knuckles.
I’ve been given various drops and ointments by doctors to treat the infection but none of them seem to work. They ease symptoms but do nothing for the duration of the infection. One herb I’ve discovered can get rid of the issue in mere days. Eyebright can be found at most any herbal store and is best used in powder form. The powder can be used to make a hot tea that can be applied to the infected area with a wash cloth. The cloth can also be used to drop the tea directly into the eye.
Since my discovery of eyebright, I have not dealt with pinkeye for longer than a day or two at a time. The herb heals the infection almost instantly and eases symptoms to the point of nonexistence. Itching, swelling and discharge all ease with the use of the herb.
When I wake up with an eye infection, I always go straight to the eyebright in the kitchen. Despite what modern medicine tells us, this herb is the best treatment for eye issues. I recommend the herb to anyone who has common bouts of pinkeye.
