“American Idol” 2014 has more talent oozing from it than a pummeled tube of toothpaste. Given the somewhat slimmer pickings talent wise in recent seasons, this is good news for fans of the show. However it does make predicting the winner of “American Idol” 2014 a bit more challenging. With a different contestant rising to the top and stealing the spotlight each week, who knows which of them will end up garnering the title of the next American Idol.
As a die hard “American Idol” fan who has watched every performance of every season – minus one due a power outage – I think I have it figured out. Taking into consideration both talent and charisma, here are your top three contenders to win “American Idol” this year:
Alex is not your typical favorite on “American Idol.” He doesn’t have the boyish good looks that make girls squeal like Phillip Phillips, and he doesn’t dance or gyrate to bring down the house. What Alex does have is pure, authentic, musical talent. His voice is spot on every time he sings, and he is at one with whatever instrument he picks up. Did you know he plays 12 instruments? That is seriously impressive. If Alex does win, and he just might, nobody will claim he didn’t deserve it.
Malaya is fireball of unique energy that draws you in, captures your attention, and you cannot help but like her. Along with a seriously stellar voice, Malaya has a sort of quirkiness that makes you root for and want the best for her – she is good people. At only 16 years old, she looks her age with her wild wavy locks and braces, but she can sing with a talent far beyond her years. Should Malaya end up wearing the crown of “American Idol,” it will only be a matter of time before she is American’s sweetheart and a household name.
Never before has a rock and roller won “American Idol,” but Caleb may very well be the first. To be completely honest, I have a wager for a gift card with an old friend each year regarding who will win, and this year I picked Caleb. He’s not a pretty boy, but he has a rugged appeal and a booming voice that take control and deliver every song he sings to thunderous applause. Even if you aren’t a fan of rock, Caleb has the chops and talent to sing whatever is put in front of him. That is why I’m counting on Caleb Johnson to be the next “American Idol.”
