Alyvia Alyn Lind can be seen in the Warner Bros. film “Blended” alongside Adam Sandler, Drew Barrymore and Bella Thorne. Alyvia plays as the youngest daughter of Sandler and youngest sister to Thorne.
Lind got her start on the hit ABC series “Revenge” as the five-year-old Amanda Clarke and can be seen in the television daytime drama “The Young and the Restless.” If that wasn’t enough she also stars in “See Dad Run” with Scott Baio.
Acting runs in her family. Her two older sisters are actresses as well as her mom, Barbara Woods. I was able to ask Alyvia about her role in “Blended,” acting, and what other projects she is working on.
Art Eddy: Tell me about your role in the film “Blended.”
Alyvia Alyn Lind: “Blended” is about two families that really don’t like each other, but they are forced to go on a trip to South Africa together and they learn that they actually work as a Blended family. I love that it’s a happy ending.
AE: You star in the movie with some very funny people like Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore. What was it like to work with them?
AAL: Adam is the funniest guy I’ve ever known and he really knows how to treat kids because he has a two girls of his own, who are also really cool. And I was so excited to work with Drew because “E.T.” has always been my favorite movie. She was my age when she shot that movie. I could not believe it when I found out that I would be working with her. I really look up to her and hope that my career is like hers.
AE: What was the best part of making that film?
AAL: The best part of the film was filming in South Africa. It was hysterical! We had monkeys jumping onto set when we were filming and we had some scenes with elephants and rhinos. They were right next to us. It was crazy!
AE: What got you into acting?
AAL: My mom was on a series called “One Tree Hill” my whole life. My sisters worked all the time too. When I was 3 I told my family that I wanted to do it too and I did! I went on my first audition for “The Young and the Restless” and booked it. I was pretty lucky.
AE: Is it easy for you to remember your lines?
AAL: I learn my lines the night before I need to know them and they just stick. Sometimes I have a lot of lines to learn and I need a couple more days, but I’m pretty good at memorizing. My whole family is always walking around saying lines in their heads. In the car, we take turns running lines.
AE: Is there a role you would love to get for your next project?
AAL: I would love to do a movie with my mom playing my mom, and my sisters playing my sisters, and my dog, Georgie, playing my dog, and my dad directing. That way we would all get to be together every day.
AE: You are also on the show “See Dad Run.” Tell me a bit about that show and your role?
AAL: I love working on “See Dad Run.” It’s such a fun place to be. I play Charlotte, who is a wise cracker, and they write some really funny lines for me, just like “Blended.” We rehearse all week then shoot in front of a live audience, which is like doing a play. It’s so exciting. It is much different than shooting a movie. But I love them both.
AE: Are you working on any projects right now that we can see you in soon?
AAL: I just finished shooting “Shangri-La-Suite” playing Lisa Marie Presley. Ashley Greene played my mom, Priscilla Presley. She was so nice. And I have a movie called “Mockingbird” coming out, which both of my sisters are in. I am also in a thriller called, “Firetwiste,” where I play a little girl who is lost and can’t find her family.
I had to leave “The Young and the Restless” to shoot “Blended,” but they asked me to return when the movie finished shooting. I’m so happy to be back on that too. I’m pretty busy, but I love all of it. The busier, the better!
