As a homeschooling parent I have found that where a child studies can have a huge impact on how well they do. There are some environments which can encourage creativity and others which can hinder it. With spring just about here I thought it would be a good idea to highlight some of the most popular spaces students have found to help them study. Keep in mind that sitting behind a desk does not work for everyone. I even spoke to several college students on the topic to find what works best for them. Some of these spaces may seem unusual but you will never know what works for you unless you give it a try.
You may be wondering why I put dog park as a popular place to study, but some really enjoy this environment. Consider a few reasons. Dog parks mostly have pets, but not many young kids. Young kids make a lot of noise and can be very distracting, however for some, dogs are not as distracting. Another reason is that usually dog parks can confine the dogs to a specific area, and you can sit in a different spot and not be bothered by the dogs. Just be sure to check the area for any presents left behind by dogs before you locate a study spot. To find local dog parks near you, do a simple Google search.
Public Flower Garden
A public flower garden can be a beautiful, and relaxing place to study. I’m sure you live in an area where there is a beautiful flower that provides the perfect study back drop. The other benefit of a flower garden is that they don’t have big crowds and are pretty quiet, especially during the day.
This may seem like an unusual place, but there are some hotel lobbies which will allow you to quietly sit and study during the day. Especially if they have a small coffee shop located in the lobby. The best part about these locations is that you don’t have to actually be staying at the hotel, however some would like you to purchase at least one cup of coffee. To find out if a hotel in your area allows this just stop in and ask. Sometimes it really is that simple.
You can also check a friend’s house, who happens to have a nice lawn. When the weather is nice you can easily sit out on their grass for a nice quiet afternoon of study. If you both are good friends they should have no problem allowing you to use their home for some study time even if they are not home. Just be sure to check with them first.
