When you see an old woman and young man, typically thoughts lean to fragile, unable, and cautious not to break a hip. Jokingly, “Britain’s Got Talent” panelists asked about the nature of their relationship – like it matters. The response was professional only.
“Britain’s Got Talent” contestants Sarah Patricia “Paddy” Jones and Nico Espinosa received the golden buzzer – escorting them through to the live semi-finals. Who would imagine a 79-year-old woman and dance partner impressing the audience, panel, and especially Simon Cowell – the most talked about and respected critic in the entertainment industry?
They did it with style.
About 35 seconds into the routine Simon hit the rejection buzzer – but then the magic happened. Nico was twirling, twisting, tossing, and flipping Paddy. The crowd went crazy! That is when Amanda Holden said, “Amazing! Amazing!” – And the gold confetti fell.
Simon Cowell said, “I apologize for what I did because I did obviously buzz a little early. This is before all the crazy things happened. You know. It was all kind of slow and normal then it went ballistic. It was extraordinary.” Then the crowd went wild with applause
Paddy started dancing at the age of 2 1/2. She had four children and a husband who passed away recently. After a lifetime of situations and raising a family, she found her way to Nico’s dance academy for something different. In her late 70s, she is now being called the Acrobatic-Dancing Granny.
Since the airing of the show – and their win – Cowell has defended the dynamic duo’s win on social media saying, “Don’t knock paddy for performing on a Spanish talent show. She is British and wants the chance to perform in front of our royal family.”
It is amazing to see the compassion in this often-feared critic. Watch the youtube video.
What lesson has this taught the world?
Just because you are old does not mean your life is over. Make the decision to exercise, eat right, and reduce the amount of pharmaceuticals for more natural vitamins and minerals. This 79-year-old granny inspires and lifts spirits – even though the crowd initially fell asleep.
Do not judge a book by the cover because the stories and capabilities within may surpass your own. Most of all – have fun and remember you can achieve your goals if only you have the will to see them through to the end.
