Are you preparing to take a trip? There are many things about traveling that you may not know that an experienced travel agent would know. These tips would come in really handy for someone who likes to travel. I once worked in the travel industry. Here are some advice tips from a travel agent:
What Is Included
It always amazed me how some people would book a trip, and not really have a clue what is included. Please read the small print and all the details of your trip before you travel. For example, are you planning just a land trip, or did you need air fare included? Does your travel include all hotels for the nights you are planning on your trip? The most forgotten detail seems to be the awareness of how many meals are being provided on the trip. If you are on an escorted tour, not all meals are usually covered. Sometimes only breakfasts are covered, or a dinner or two. Make sure you bring enough money to cover all your meals and expenses.
Some people book trips for faraway places. They do not understand that the seasons might be different then where they currently are. I have had many clients complain about not bringing the proper clothes with them on their trips. Do your research on where you are traveling too because just because it is sunny and warm where you live, does not mean that it is not cold weather where you are traveling too. Pack appropriately. Make sure you have an umbrella for those rainy days that sometimes happen during travel, and always bring comfortable walking shoes.
Be aware of time changes depending on where you are traveling too. Allow yourself enough time in your travel plans to have some down time to catch up on some missing sleep especially if you are traveling overseas. Some people think they can just get off a plane, and start traveling the area they have flown too. That is not always the case. Make your trip flexible so that you can catch up on some extra sleep if needed because not everyone does well on travel time change.
Sometimes there are some unexpected negatives when traveling, and you should be prepared for that. Sometimes when you visit other countries you may not care for the food that is prepared there. For example, in some countries it would be wise not to drink the water, or it will make you sick. Speaking of being sick you might want to make sure you bring certain medications with you. Sometimes you can get sick expectantly, and it is not always easy to find certain medications easily when you need them. I actually missed seeing the castle of Edinburgh because the rolling hills of Scotland made my stomach so sick that I had to stay in the hotel to feel better again.
