Are you new to Ft Stewart and really know nothing about where you are now stationed? You are a part of the 3rd Infantry Division “Rock of the Marine”. With its great heritage and community support, there are many activities and support in the place you now call home.
Ft Stewart was built in 1941 and went into use in late 1941 through 1945. Fort Stewart was temporarily closed from 1945-1950. Ft. Stewart sits on over 280,000 acres and includes 5 counties, Liberty County, Long, Evans, Bryan and Tattnall Counties. It is the largest military installation in the Eastern United States.
There are many activities for adults, children and families alike. Here are just a few to choose from. You can contact the Ft Stewart Morale, Welfare and Recreation Center, for other stuff to do on post as well.
Bowling: There are 2 bowling Alley’s on post-
- The Marne Bowling Center – 54 Steele Ave. Bldg.402 912-767-4866, It includes a 36 lane bowling facility featuring synthetic lanes. Daily and weekly league’s as well as the perfect place to have special parties.
- The Stewart Bowling Center – 439 Lindquist Rd., Bldg. 450 912-767-4273- Stewart lanes is for the “extreme” bowler, there are only 12 lanes here so better for small groups.
Golf: A great opportunity to relieve pent up stress
- Taylors Creek Golf Course – 2150 Gulick Ave 912-767-2370 Mon-Fri: 0730-1930 Sat-Sun: 0700-1930,The golf course is an 18 hole, par 72 course, and includes a golf pro clubhouse with a pro shop and driving range. It provides daily, monthly or annual fee charges. There is a dress code for the course but if you love to golf this is the place for you.
Hunting and Fishing– There are opportunities for anyone and everyone.
Outdoor Recreation & Equipment Rental – outdoor activities available to you. There are tons of fun things to choose from, such as Archery Ranges, Fishing Ponds, Hunting Areas and Swimming Pools. There are also a total of 4 different Gym’s with different activities at each.
