The internet along with Facebook and Twitter is all abuzz on April 15th concerning the rumor that legendary rock band AC/DC is retiring. The world-famous group contends, if you believe the news floating around in cyberspace, is that they refuse to tour without founding member and guitarist, Malcolm Young. According to news reports, the beloved guitarist is deathly ill and is returning to his home country of Australia to be with family.
While fans are already mourning for the loss of Young and the rest of the band, looks look to see if there is any truth to the increasingly widespread rumors.
Is Malcolm Young ill?
According to this report, singer Brian Johnson mentioned that Young “was” ill. The 61-year-old Young reportedly is unable to play the guitar anymore because of a blood clot in the brain, which has made him forget chords and songs. While the band and the legendary guitarist have not responded to rumors as of yet, there has enough talk amongst fans and news agencies to assume that there is some truth to the scenario.
Fans are up in arms
All one has to do is see the uproar over this suspected news is view social media to see the words, “Rest in peace, AC/DC” and “All the good ones are dropping like flies.” Fans young and old, but especially those who grew up rocking out to the likes of “Back in Black” and “Thunderstruck” are even more disturbed by the pending or not, demise of a beloved super-group.
How the rumor caught fire
A certain showbiz reporter from Australia by the name of Peter Ford let this interesting and perhaps untrue cat out of the proverbial bag. His tweets are quite interesting and does point to what has the world of rock and roll blowing up like hotcakes in a blazing oven. It will remain to be seen if Mr. Ford will hold true to his comments if and when the rumors hold up to truth.
No matter what
If this explosive rumor does have bones to hold it together, then it’s still presumptuous and completely out of line for anyone to make accusations concerning the health of a beloved musician. Regardless, AC/DC will always rock and their forty-year contribution to the world of everything rock will live on forever.
If we are to believe the actual members of the band, Brian Johnson and Angus Young in previously linked articles, we can be assured there is more to these rumors than meets the eye….or we can only hope.
