The 5:2 Diet is a weight loss plan where you fast for 2 days in the week and then you eat normally the rest of the time. It’s also similar to a fasting diet. Here is some more information about it.
The 5:2 Diet is easy to do if you have the will power to stick to it. Many women have lost weight on this diet including myself.
With the 5:2 diet, you eat 500 calories for women and 600 calories for men on your fast days. For example, fast days can be on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but it has been known for some people to do three fast days instead of two i.e. Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The rest of the time you eat normally, but not over doing it. At least 1500 calories can be eaten the rest of the time for women, but you must curb foods like sugary sweets on these days.
Foods to Eat on Fast Days
You can eat anything but you have to stick to 500 calories (women) or 600 calories (men) on your fast days. It is, also, a good idea to drink plenty of water. Here are a list of foods that I ate on Fast days.
Fruit – Bananas, Apples, Pears, Oranges, grapes, peaches, melon.
Fish – white fish, salmon, tuna.
Chicken or any kind of meat, such as, pork, lean beef or pork loin chops.
Low Fat Cottage cheese
Low fat cheeses like spreads
Vegetables – all kinds
Whole meal bread is allowed, but make sure it is counted within the 500 calories.
What Happens on Feast Days?
On these days you eat anything you want within moderation. 1500 calories for women on these days is a good amount to stick to, but try it and keep it as healthy as possible. If you like to drink alcohol, such as, wine, then one or two glasses of wine with dinner is fine once or twice a week, but never over do it.
The 5:2 Diet is vastly becoming very popular these days. It has helped many women and men to lose weight. The one good thing about this diet is the way it can curb hunger, because on feast days it will help you not to over eat or want any bad foods. This enables many people to follow the diet much more easily.
