If you’re planning a 2014 wedding, zero in on the sequential date of December 13, since a cool run on the numbers won’t appear again for 89 years. And, what’s more, 12-13-14 falls on a Saturday, so wedding venues are booking up fast. Thinking ahead, there will be another chance on 01-02-03 in the year 2103, but that’s a thought that goes way beyond forward planning.
The end of the line
Perhaps you hadn’t noticed that we’ve come to the end of a surfeit of propitious dates in recent years. This is all connected to the many opportunities at the beginning of any century, for example: 01-01-01 was a prime choice. So was 02-02-02 and lucky 07-07-07 and so on. When it comes to the sequential numbers, perhaps you know a couple who chose 11-12-13 last November, even though it fell on a Tuesday? Once we reach 2015, the sequential train clearly comes to the end of the tracks. So, here’s the last chance of this lifetime to grab a classic date.
If you decide to go for it, why not add the time in to your invitations for some extra luck? You could have your guests synchronize their watches and chime the bells at precisely 3:16 p.m. on December 13, so that you exchange your vows on 12-13-14 at 15:16.
A quick search online indicates that other 12-13-14 brides have already booked and are blogging about it, pinning images on Pinterest and searching out forums of brides who will share their anniversary date for years to come. After all, there was a massive surge on the sequential date last year, according to Las Vegas hotels, the media and TheKnot.com. One couple, calling themselves math geeks, appeared on the TODAY Show, pulling it off at 9:10 on 11-12-13 to fit in with broadcast timing.
Some venues with space still available are offering special wedding deals. The Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa near Austin, Texas is offering 12 percent discount on food and beverage, 13 percent discount on spa treatments and 14 percent discount on golf. They’re also offering a special three-night weekend suite rate of $1213.14 and complimentary stays at the resort for the couple’s 12th, 13th and 14th wedding anniversaries. If that doesn’t work for you, they’ve got a wedding date competition on their Facebook page for couples who have already tied the knot.
A penny for your thoughts
More good news: Your husband will probably have less trouble remembering your anniversary. And a word to the wise: 12-13-14 does not exist in much of the world, where date notation is ordered differently, placing the month before the day. In Europe, for example, the date becomes 13-12-14 for December 13, 2014. Some Canadians would write it out as 2014-12-13. Therefore, if you go for the date, make sure your wedding is held in America.
