I may be the rat who stands alone with the cheese on this one, but just as I am getting bored, tired and annoyed listening to society spew and spit out meaningless and shallow observations and opinions from over thinking everything from pet weight control to adult urinary leakage, I do believe that I have found an issue that irritates me even more. If political correctness wasn’t bad enough, now we have to suffer through the Anti-Everything groups and the people who jump on their bandwagons. Oh please, don’t pretend to be offended by this because if you step back and into reality, you’ll see the truth.
Why Do We Over-Kill The Word Anti?
Why is it when a group or organization creates a worthy cause must other groups feel it necessary to follow suit and plagiarize the material as if they created it? Whatever happened to originality? When this happens, the true intent of the original idea becomes trivialized and soon forgotten. This is exactly what is taking place with the word “Anti” and whatever else follows it. Don’t get me wrong, there are some great and noble “Anti” campaigns and benefits like;
- · Anti-terrorism
- · Anti-child/elder abuse
- · Anti-hunger
- · Anti- homeless
- · Anti-violence
These are, in my opinion, all solid, worthy, causes because they directly challenge acts against humanity and are not based on race, religion or culture. The problems arise when certain people or groups of people choose to use the word “Anti” to deliberately slander or use prejudice to attack another human being. To make matters worse, the media sensationalizes their behavior just adding fuel to the fire.
The Media And Being An Anti-Anything
Anti-gay, Anti-black, Anti-Semitic, Anti-Muslim and Anti-Christian are also acts against humanity, but with one major difference from my previous list. That difference is; people choose to be hateful and prejudice whereas people do not choose to be killed by terrorists, abused or homeless. In the last few months, how many stories in the media or on the news have been about networks not renewing a show because one or several of the stars have opened their big mouths and felt it necessary to tell the world how they felt about a certain group of people? It’s not just stars of shows either, it’s politicians and other high profile idiots doing the same thing. I couldn’t give a rats hind quarters what they think or how they feel just as long as they keep it to themselves and keep their obnoxious traps shut. The media, however, just spoon feeds it to the public by the truck load and then sits back and watches as it gets regurgitated over and over again causing more tension and hate than before.
Where Do You Draw The Anti Line
I do not like Prime rib, does that make me Anti-beef? What’s next; Anti-onion, Anti-toothbrush, Anti-coffee (Anti-coffee would be just plain wrong). For God’s sake, even the side effects of Anti-depressants are more lethal than the medication. Will we eventually have to separate students into classrooms based on their Anti issues because mommy and daddy don’t want junior exposed to something he doesn’t like? Enough already, enough! Instead of finding a multitude of non-essential things to be against, why not shift all that negative energy into something positive like Pro-human rights. Did I just use the word Pro? Damn-here we go again!
