Whenever we go on holiday we always take choosing our accommodation very seriously and this is because we want the best for our money. On this particular occasion we were holidaying with a group of friends as well as our own family so this would mean we had 4 children and 6 adults with us. We decided a rented house would be the best form of accommodation to go for as it would mean we could still socialise together in the evenings once the children were in bed upstairs.
We found this particular house on Cottages4u website and it just looked ideal. It looked spacious, clean and had good sized bedrooms. Often with self catering accommodation it looks good in the basic description but then when you look at the lay out it doesn’t work for you- bedrooms over various floors or one of the sleeping arrangements being a pull out bed in the lounge. With Waldeck there are 4 good size double bedroooms so nobody is left feeling like they have drawn the short straw with a box room!
When we arrived here we were very pleased. It is well located. It is about a 15 minute drive from Chester and only a 3 minute drive from the M56. It also has a small station a 2 minute walk away so it is easy to access for all. It is set in a village location surrounded by fields and some other houses. It is very peaceful.
Our first impressions upon arriving were lovely. The gardens are well kept and obviously cared for and the house looked very clean. There is plenty of living space so even though we were a large party we never once felt as though we were under each other’s feet. In the lounge area there were 3 very large sofas that would easily seat 3-4 adults on each. There was still lots of space for the children to play too. As well as a lounge there was a large dining room, a study, kitchen and utility room and downstairs toilet. Plenty of space and very well equipped with all manner of things in the kitchen, you couldn’t want for anything else!
Upstairs was nice and spacious, all bedrooms a very good size. 4 double rooms- 3 double beds and 1 with 2 twin beds. There were televisions in 2 rooms. There were two bathrooms too. Lots of special touches like the cots we had requested came with lovely bedding and we had been given a night light and nappy sacks too.
We felt that this house was lovely. It was very clean and had a lovely homely feel. Sometimes holiday rentals can feel a bit bare and basic but there was more than enough of everything with lots of nice touches like fresh milk in the fridge and a box of biscuits left out for us.
It was brilliantly positioned for visiting Chester and we would definitely return. It is a beautiful house which we highly recommend.
