By now the word is out. That was most definitely a baby bump Mila Kunis was proudly sporting at the recent MTV Movie Awards – and it seems both Ashton and Mila fans couldn’t be happier!
Like so many of you, I’ve grown to love these two since first meeting the characters they brought to life in ‘That 70’s Show’. Michel Kelso had a less-than-genius I.Q. whose poignantly brutal honesty made him impossible not to adore. And yes, let’s admit it – we loved to hate to love Jackie Burkhart. How could we not? She was the very embodiment of that annoyingly cute 70’s fashionista we all knew. Every week she managed to make me cringe, remembering the best of the worst of those same clothes I myself once wore. Handkerchief shirts and kool lots, anyone??
To deepen the appeal of the Ashton/Mila love story for die-hard romantics, it’s no secret that Ashton was Mila’s first kiss! True, it was for a scene for the sitcom, but an important scene, based upon what our two co-stars each had to say about it:
“I was so nervous and uncomfortable,” Kunis recalled. “I had the biggest crush on him.”
Kutcher, on the other hand, insisted in 2001 that he was the nervous wreck.
“She acted so cool. She seemed as if she’d done it a thousand times,” Kutcher told the magazine. “I was the one with the butterflies in my stomach. I mean, here’s this little girl, and I have to kiss her. It was nerve-racking.” (Elena Gorgan, softpedia.com)
Even then their chemistry was obvious to those of us who followed the show. To see one without the other became a perversion of the natural order of things. Donna summed it up best by yelling out “I’m blind!” after seeing Jackie and Hyde lock lips for the first time. I always felt theirs was one of the most unpleasant couplings of the show, with the storyline of Kelso dating Hyde’s sister a close second.
From the bottom of our hearts, we love and wish you the best, Ashton and Mila. You’ve gifted us with memories of a much simpler time, watching as you embraced and brought back to life an era that is too long gone. ‘That 70’s show’ brought you into our lives, and we will forever love you both!
