Eyeliner can be tricky, and sometimes, even frustrating. Eyeliner requires patience and precision. Sometimes, we don’t have time to be patient when getting ready in a rush. And sometimes, no matter how long we have to do our eyeliner, it just doesn’t seem right.
Here are five tips on how to make your eyeliner is perfect and avoid disaster:
1. Avoid Heavy Bottom Lid
Many people decide to apply eyeliner to their bottom lid which is fine, but did you know that a heavy bottom line can actually make your eyes smaller? To prevent this from happening (and prevent you from looking like a middle school girl who’s just discovered make up) try using a softer color on your bottom lash line, like a soft taupe or brown. Even better, use nothing at all. Sometimes, a swipe of mascara on your lower lashes can do the trick without closing your eyes up.
2. Get Smooth Lines
Getting the perfect line can be a challenge. Often times, it is easy to struggle with jagged edges. Rather than pulling the corner of your eye, point your chin up and look down so a natural line is created while your eyes are half open. Make sure to pull your line all the way out to the corner!
3. Stop Skipping Primer
Eye primer is crucial to any make up look. Many people neglect to use it, because they don’t realize the benefit it provides. Primer not only sets your eye shadow, makes it last and not fall out, but primer also helps your eyeliner from lasting and from smudging!
4. Use more colors
While the common colors to use are black and brown, don’t limit yourself. White and peach colored eyeliners can also do wonders in opening up your eyes and making them seem brighter and bigger. Experiment a little too, with plums and navys too to make your eye color pop.
5. Let mascara enhance your eyeliner
Its important to remember that eyeliner is supposed to enhance your lash line. Don’t solely depend on eyeliner to give you the look you desire. Mascara and eyeliner should be used as a duo. Make sure you swipe on a few coats of mascara before you continue to adjust your eyeliner for that look. This will help give your eyes more definition and prevent you from having raccoon eyes from too much liner.
