Cast iron skillets are great because they are usually non stick and they retain a lot of heat when cooking. I hate it when I’m cooking and the heat is nit evenly distributed. Well with cast iron it distributes the heat to all areas of the pan. You can use a cast iron skillet for any of your cooking needs. Here are a few delicious recipes you can try at home all in under 45 minutes.
If you love Mexican food like me, you will enjoy this recipe. Chicken Fajitas can be made in fifteen minutes or less using a frying pan or a cast iron skillet works even better. I make this meal for my daughter, niece and nephew on Mexican food night and they love it. I use the Tyson Grilled & Ready Fajita Chicken Breast Strips, 6 oz. It’s already cut and lightly seasoned for you. Also contains no preservatives which is great. However, you can use whichever brand you prefer. Thaw your package of chicken, and add about a little olive oil or vegetable oil to your skillet. Next add in your green and red peppers and onions. Sauté them on medium heat until they are tender then shake a little garlic season on it. Next add in your package of chicken continue to cook until hot. Now you can add in your can of black beans and corn. (Drain the juice) Add in your fajita season packet, and lightly shake a little adobo season to your meal for taste. Now you are ready to put it on your fajita wrap and top with sour cream. (optional) Enjoy!
- Package of already carved Chicken
- ½ Can of black beans (use the whole can if you prefer)
- ½ Can of corn (use the whole can if you prefer)
- 1 Green pepper
- 1 Red pepper
- 1 Onion
- Garlic seasoning
- Packet of fajita seasoning (I use the taco bell brand)
- Adobo seasoning (red cap)
- Vegetable oil/olive oil

Cheese burgers are taste great, and are quick and easy to make using your cast iron skillet. This meal takes about 30 minutes or less to prepare and your family will love it. I learned this recipe from my mom, and added my own twist to it. Thaw your package of hamburger and add in chopped onions, garlic, all seasonings to taste (your own preference), and cook on medium high heat. After your hamburgers are done, lightly butter a slice of bread, you can also use olive oil for a healthier option. Next top with cheese. Oil your clean skillet, and put your already prepared hamburger in the pan when oil is hot. Use a spatula to flatten and turn over, take out when cheese is melted. Both sides should be light golden brown.
- Garlic Powder
- Season Salt
- Adobo Seasoning (red cap)
- Meat Tenderizer Seasoning
- Cheddar Cheese Slices
- Sliced Bread (white or wheat)
- Olive oil/Butter
This meal is very quick and easy also. It should take 20 minutes or less to prepare. This is another recipe I grew up on, is a very delicious if you love shrimp. Thaw your bag of shrimp. (You can soak in warm water to thaw.) Season with a little garlic powder, pepper, and oldbay. Now in your cast iron skillet add 1 stick of butter on medium low heat. If you have a large bag of shrimp you can add 1 ½ stick of butter. When the butter is melted add in your shrimp. Let it cook until butter is dissolved and shrimp is lightly browned on both sides.
- Shrimp (frozen already cooked)
- Garlic Powder
- Old Bay seafood seasoning
Have your cast iron skillet in a preheated oven on 450 degrees F. When pan is hot take it out carefully using an oven mitt and place on the stove top. Thaw raw Steaks. Lightly oil the steak and season with salt and pepper to taste. Now add the steak to the hot skillet on high heat. Cook for a couple minutes and turn over. After it cooked on both sides for about 2 minutes, drizzle a little red wine and place in the oven until steaks are cooked to your preference. Remember to let the meat rest for about ten minutes before serving.
- (6 ounce) steaks
- Olive oil
- Black pepper
- 1/2 cup of red wine
