Have you been having relationship issues with your girlfriend, fiancé, or wife? Is it to the point where you have no more ideas and need some outside help? Many resources are available to help men with relationship related issues. Let’s take a look at 5 resources that I have used in the past that can provide you the help you need with your relationship struggles.
Online Relationship and Dating Forums
Locating an online dating or relationship forum can provide some comfort to you if you prefer anonymity. Sign up under an assumed or nickname and begin explaining your situation. It won’t take long before you receive a multitude of suggestions, help, or tips that can save your relationship. You would be surprised at the quality and thorough help you can receive from online forums, and many members can be employed in the counseling or therapy fields.
Pick up a local newspaper and see if you have a Dear Abby section. You can remain anonymous and the answers you receive are usually extremely detailed and provide other places for support or help. If your local newspaper doesn’t have it, try a larger city nearby. Submit your situation and wait for a response.
Check your yellow pages or do a quick search online to locate the number to a relationship hotline. Many of the hotlines are directed towards specific demographics such as the teen relationship hotline, Christian based relationship help, and others. It may take some time to find a good free hotline, but the benefit is instant feedback. You don’t have to wait for the paper to publish, or the forum members to respond.
Local support groups
Many community centers and organizations host relationship or marriage counseling. This is less anonymous, but they are usually staffed by certified therapists or counselors and can provide extensive feedback based on fact. Better yet, many of these organizations host these classes or groups at little to no cost.
If you’ve exhausted your free sources for relationship advice, see if your significant other would be interested in attending relationship counseling. This is the most expensive of the choices, but if it means saving a marriage then it will be money well spent. Don’t expect a miracle overnight; be prepared to do homework, and also to adjust what is comfortable to you. Put forth the effort and in the end you may be rewarded with a lifelong relationship that exceeds your wildest imagination.
