Staying inside when it’s raining doesn’t have to be boring. There are lots of fun activities you and your toddler can enjoy at home.
1. Song and dance. It can be hard to have your little ones inside when they want to be active. So make inside the most physically active it can be and turn on some kid themed songs and sing and dance with them. You can turn it into a learning activity by putting on some educational music such as counting, alphabet or story songs.
2. Cooking. A fun activity to do with your little chefs is cooking something in the kitchen. It doesn’t have to be anything gourmet, just a simple sandwich or their favorite treat can help pass the time. They can also learn about measuring and time while doing this activity.
3. Finger painting. An good activity doesn’t have to be too planned out or structured. Sometimes, getting silly or messy can be just as good as anything. Bring out the finger paints and a large sheet of paper and let your kids get as messy and creative as they want on the paper. Have them make art with their hands, feet and fingers as they enjoy this activity.
4 Put on a play. Don’t get tempted to watch TV on those boring rainy days. Get creative and have your kids put on costumes and create a theatre out of your living room and develop storylines and characters. Play along with them, narrate the story or be the engaged spectator. Make it fun and creative for your kids.
5. Fun storytime. Kids love novelty and discovering new things. It’s always important to spend time reading aloud to kids. A great way to do this is to set aside books for storytime sessions at home. You can put them away in a box and save them for this time so your kids can enjoy reading new, fun books.
