Club Soda. Sparkling water is an excellent treatment for urine soaked carpet. Simply pour a small amount on the area and dab with a sponge until clean.
Baking Soda. This is one of the best odor eliminators and one of the cheapest items to buy. Sprinkle the powder onto the carpet, let sit for 30-90 minutes and vacuum up. This can be used on wet or dry carpet.
White Vinegar. Vinegar works wonders on wet pet stains and is great for neutralizing odors since it’s highly acidic. Dab the area with a mixture of equal parts vinegar and water, let dry and then vacuum over the area. Using a fan in the room can speed up the drying process.
Bleach. While bleach should only be used on light colored carpets it is an excellent product for removing older stains. Use a spray bottle and dilute the bleach with water so your carpet will not be left with a bright lightened area. A good mixture is 10 parts water to 1 part bleach. Lightly mist the area and then dab with warm water. Repeat process until the stain is lightened enough to blend in with the rest of the carpet.
Dish Soap. Cheap colorless dish soap is excellent for shampooing your carpet. Make sure to use colorless because the dye in the soap can stain your carpet. This treatment works best on fresh stains. Work the soap into the carpet with a stiff bristle brush or even an old toothbrush and then dab with warm water until clean.
