Inflammation is a natural defense mechanism. It heals the body, by preventing the rapid destruction of our cells. It also allow the tissues to adapt to on-going stress in the affected area.
However, when inflammation lasts for a long period of time, it can lead to degenerative conditions. This includes arthritis, heart disease, and other conditions. Inflammation can become so out of control that it damages the body.
Fortunately, there are a variety of ways to treat inflammation. Of course, there are medications that can help reduce it. However, believe it or not, there are also certain foods that help reduce inflammation as well. Here are a few foods that reduce inflammation:
Consuming Plenty Of Whole Grains
Consuming whole grains, help keep harmful inflammation at bay. Whole grains reduce levels of C-reactive protein, a marker of inflammation in the blood. Be sure to purchase foods with whole grain as the first ingredient. Also, make sure no sugar is added.
Drink Green Tea
Green tea contains catechins, which help the body detoxify itself. It is best to consume organic green tea, since they have the most catechins. Be sure to drink at least one or two cups a day.
Drink Plenty Of Water
Drink filtered water, since tap water, sometimes, contain inflammatory chemicals. This ensures that your water is pure and doesn’t contain any harmful chemicals. Water is necessary because it flushes out toxins, which reduce inflammation. It also provides proper hydration. Drink at least 64 ounces a day.
Eat Plenty Of Dark Leafy Green Veggies
They protect the body from the pro-inflammatory molecules, cytokines. Dark greens also have higher concentrations of vitamin E and minerals, such as calcium and iron. Dark veggies also contain disease-fighting phytochemicals.
Consume Healthy Fats
You should always eat fats from unsaturated sources, such as avocados, nuts, and cold-water fish. They are high in omega-3 fatty acids, which help reduce your body’s levels of inflammation. You should incorporate fish in your diet, every week. Also, be sure it is either baked or boiled fish, to get the maximum benefits.
