Unfortunately, not everybody is born blessed with long and beautiful eyelashes. Some unlucky folks have to go out and buy their beauty from the shelves of the local drug store, and that’s when things can get interesting. Doing certain incorrectly can cause a person to look worse than they would have had they not done anything to their appearance at all. So, if you want to create those gorgeous eyes with long and flirty lashes, you are going to need to follow these four easy steps.
- 1. Measure Twice, Cut Once
The last thing you want to do is apply false lashes to your eyes that are either too wide or too narrow. Usually, fake eyelashes are sold in a one-size-fits-all package which requires you to customize them to fit your face. Take a second to make sure your lashes are the right size before moving on to the next step; and if you need to, cut them down to where they need to be. The best false lashes I have ever seen are called Eye Splashes – they come precut into different sizes and you can even try fun colors too.
- 2. Apply Mascara
Some people might tell you that applying makeup before applying false lashes is not a very good idea, but they are wrong. Putting on a little mascara first gives your eyelashes that extra holding power they’re going to need in order to stay put all day. Those false lashes and that glue might not seem very heavy on your finger, but your lashes are quite a bit more delicate. It would suck to be in the middle of something and have a chunk of eyelash fall off your face.
- 3. Put on some Glue
Now that you’re prepared, you need to put some glue on those lovely lashes you’re holding and get them ready to be worn. Add a thin line of adhesive to the base of your fake lashes, and then wait patiently for about 30 seconds for the glue to dry a bit before putting them on your eye. You don’t want to stick the lashes on with dripping glue or else you might end up with a big (and sticky) mess.
- 4. Close and Hold
Next you want to close your eye lightly, trying to avoid creating eyelid wrinkles in the process – you know, the way you closed your eyes when you pretended to be asleep as a child. Take your false lashes with the partially dried glue on them and press them to the base of your lash line (as close as you can without putting them directly on top of your actual lashes). Keep your eye closed for about 15 seconds, pressing firmly but gently the entire time. Then, simply move on to the next eye.
