I love wine. I’ve always loved wine. But the older I get the more the libations made from the grape please me.
1. It’s good for you. Seriously. A glass of wine every now and then is pretty good for you. Beer may be empty calories, but the antioxidants in wine are beneficial in the long run.
2. It’s cost effective. Boxed wine is good for the environment and good for your wallet. Since you can get nearly four liters for roughly twenty bucks, you can have about two glasses of wine for a little less than a week. When you compare that to the prices of other alcohol, boxed wine is good deal. And y’all know I love a good deal.
3. It’s a more pleasant buzz. In my own personal experience, I find that a glass or two of wine is a much better buzz than beer or liquor. With the carbiness of a half a case of beer, or a couple shots of whiskey, I end up feeling heavy, and gross. But with just one glass of wine I feel like all my muscles are more relaxed without needing to drink a ton. It’s a pleasant and warm feeling that other booze doesn’t give me.
4. It goes well with food. For centuries people have been talking about wine pairings. White wine, as most of us know, goes well with lighter proteins like fish. Red wine goes great with red meat. Wine has the distinction of being a drink that consistently gets the consideration of how well it goes with food. Yes there is beer and pizza, and margaritas and mexican food, but wine goes well with all those and with everything I’ve ever tasted.
