If you ask me, taking a hot bath is the ultimate form of relaxation. When I take a bath, it has nothing to do with needing to bathe, it is about taking a zen moment to be a fabulous woman who is taking some time for herself to just have a good soak.
1. Bubbles. Bubbles are just luxurious and relaxing. And sometimes you can get bubble bath blends that soothe sad and sore muscles. When it comes to trying to relax and unwind, I put in a ton of bubbles and sometimes that is enough to make a nice hot bath a great hot bath.
2. Time to read. I love reading in the tub. There are even writers who would write in the tub. While I’ve never tried to write in there, I love to settle in with a good book. Just keep your hands above water when you climb in, and you can read and turn the pages while you lie in a sea of bubbles. Reading in the tub is especially great if you’re trying to relax but you’re too stressed to let your mind sit on its own.
3. More time with hot water. The shower at my house doesn’t stay hot for very long at all. Most of my showers are lukewarm and involve me inching closer and closer to the diminishing water pressure. But with a bath, I put it as hot as it will go and then when it gets to lukewarm it’s great! Because the hot water is so hot initially that it would burn me, so the lukewarm water makes it so I can actually get in the tub. It takes a while for the water to cool down while you’re sitting in it. Far better than letting all that hot water go down the drain!
I prefer baths to showers when it comes to regular bathing. But if I ever need to relax, the combo of bubbles, hot water and a good book is a great tool to have at my disposal. I highly recommend it.
