Finding quick, easy, inexpensive and just plain yummy dinner ideas can be a challenge. When it comes to pasta, you can never go wrong. An entire box of pasta is about $1…and adding a few ingredients roughly $2 – $3 and you can make a meal for 4 spending only $3 – $4! Unless you are buying gluten free pasta….in that case you can add another $4 to the total. But that’s still a main course for 4 people for under $10. Not too bad!
Here are 3 very quick and easy pasta sauce recipes you can make in just a few minutes with 5 ingredients or less. All are gluten free and can be used with gluten free pasta as well.
1 can (15oz) diced tomatoes
1 can (15oz) tomato sauce
1 can (6oz) tomato paste
2 fresh garlic cloves minced
Dash of basil, oregano, salt and pepper
Place all ingredients into a sauce pan and simmer over medium heat for 20 minutes. Keep lid on pan while simmering to avoid splattering all over your stove. Once sauce has been heated through thoroughly it is ready to serve. For a hearty meal pour over meatballs, or make a sub. Great for spaghetti, pizza, and dips for mozzarella sticks, Stromboli, etc.
1 stick butter
1 package cream cheese
1 clove fresh garlic minced
2 c milk
¼ c parmesan cheese (or more if you prefer)
Melt butter, add cream cheese and garlic. Whisk until smooth. Add in milk and cheese and stir constantly. Should only take a minute or two…do not over-cook the sauce. Pour over linguini or your favorite pasta. This sauce is really yummy with chicken and broccoli over pasta.
Garlic Butter Sauce
2 cloves fresh garlic
1 stick butter
¼ c parmesan cheese
Melt butter in pan, and sauté garlic. Pour over pasta, your choice, add parmesan cheese. Mix and serve. You can also use this sauce to dip pizza into (yummy!). Works really nicely over pasta and chicken.
