This award will be handed out for the second time and is meant to recognize an artist for not only producing great music throughout the past year, but recognizing their fans by connecting with them. It is voted on by fans and the list has been narrowed down to three finalists, which are OneRepublic, Carrie Underwood, and Ellie Goulding.
What to Watch For
As I noted before, the lineup of acts is one sure to impress any music fan. The lineup consist of: Carrie Underwood and Miranda Lambert, Florida Georgia Line, Imagine Dragons, Jason Derulo, Jennifer Lopez, John Legend, Luke Bryan, Miley Cyrus, OneRepublic, Pitbull, Ricky Martin, 5 Seconds of Summer, and Lorde
Rumors have been going around for a couple weeks now about a hologram of the “King of Pop” performing at the much-anticipated BBMA. It will certainly be something worth watching after seeing the Tupac hologram at Coachella. This performance will set the stage for Jackson’s album “Xscape” set to be released on May 13.
Ariana Grande and Iggy Azalea
The pair will be among the long list of performers when they were recently announced to be performing “Problem,” which is one of the top songs on the Billboard’s Digital Songs chart. Grande and Azalea represent two of the up-and-coming stars in the music industry. Ariana Grande has been producing hit-after-hit this year and is up for the Top New Artist award. At the same time, rapper Iggy Azalea has added her name into a growing list of female rappers that have been a hit with the public. She will also perform her hit song “Fancy,” which features Charli XCX.
In the end, I see this as being one of the best award shows of the season. From the Michael Jackson hologram to the exciting pairing of Ariana Grande and Iggy Azalea to instant-sensation Lorde performing a new song to Miley Cyrus (you never know what to expect!), it will be a great show to check out.
